The Host

Okay, well for Christmas, I got The Host by Stefanie Meyer and I started to read it.  So far, its not as good as Twilight, but who can expect that?  No one.  So basically the story is that aliens who call themselves "souls" have taken over the human race.  The souls make the human unconscious and then the somehow connect themselves to the human's brain and the human can't think anymore.  So really the soul takes over the body.  But in this one case of "Wanderer", this particular soul's name, the human whose name was/is Melanie chose to fight Wanderer back.  Melanie's body is still controlled by Wanderer, but she can talk inside the brain to Wanderer.  Since Wanderer is influenced by Melanie, and before Melanie was captured she had been in love with Jared, Wanderer seems to be falling for Jared as well.  Melanie ends up bugging Wanderer so much that Wanderer thinks about finding herself a new body.  Wanderer wants to talk to her Healer before taking that dramatic action so she drives from somewhere in California to Arizona to see the Healer.  But on the way, Melanie reveals a secret that might lead them to Jared, the man they both love.  Wanderer, even though she feels like a traitor to her kind, really wants to meet him, so she lets Melanie lead her on the journey.  This book is kind of weird, but I like it so far.  I hope it gets a little bit more interesting in the next few chapters, though.
